What is a traineeship?
A traineeship is a skills development programme that includes a work placement. This Government funded programme aims to provide young people aged 19-24 with a variety of experiences, knowledge, practical skills and recognised sector qualififcations, along with a crucial work placement.
As an employer can you offer:
- safe, meaningful and high-quality work experience
- a minimum of 70 hours of work experience
- sector specialist guidance throughout the work experience
- an exit interview that could (if available) lead to a Kickstart or Apprenticeship opportunity or a job within your business.

Why offer a traineeship placement?
There a several benefits to you and your business:
- Traineeships are flexible, you can design a programme that suits both the needs of your business and the trainee
- Government backed and funded
- Employer incentive of £1000 per trainees (up to 10*)
- Builds and develops a loyal and talented workforce
- Enables your teams to gain experience in training and mentoring
- Gives you the opportunity to work with young people prior to recruiting kickstart or apprenticeship placements.
Employers who offer traineeship work placements and complete the feedback at the end of each placement are eligible for £1000 incentive payment per trainee for up to 10 trainees, per region.

We recognise that certain sectors may like to tailor this experience for the trainees to enhance their job opportunities, so we have a number of different qualifications that we can add to the traineeship to support this such as:

- Level 2 Mental Health Awareness
- Level 2 Equality & Diversity

How long does a traineeship last?
Traineeships can last from 6 weeks up to 1 year, although most traineeships last for less than 6 months.
Who can qualify for a traineeship?
Trainees must be aged 19-24 to qualify for the programme
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to an employer who takes on a trainee. There are no recruitment fees and your trainees training is fully funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency.
What is the recruitment process?
We will discuss your requirements and advertise your position on the Government website and manage the applications.
