British Sign Language Level 3 in Partnership with the Royal Association of Deaf People

In partnership with the Royal Association for Deaf People (RAD), we are delighted to offer the opportunity for individuals who area deaf and BSL is their first language and for parents and carers of deaf people to learn British Sign Language (BSL) and achieve a recognised qualification. We are an approved centre with Signature, the UK’s leading awarding body for BSL.

British Sign Language Courses

Our dynamic and engaging online courses give you the opportunity to learn the beautiful language of BSL, exploring its culture, rich history, syntax, and different signs.

Our courses are taught by experienced and passionate deaf qualified tutors – the best way to learn BSL. Our BSL courses cater to learners of all levels, from beginners or those who are already on their journey.

Course Overview

In partnership with:

  • Take your BSL skills to the next level with our Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language.

    This course is perfect if you already have a strong foundation in BSL and want to develop your fluency, accuracy, and confidence when communicating in a wide range of real-life situations.

    You will explore topics that reflect everyday experiences and key issues within the deaf community, including:

    • Home life
    • Social and recreational activities
    • Education and training
    • Employment
    • Consumer issues and daily living
    • Health and wellbeing
    • Deaf history and culture

    You will also advance your understanding of complex linguistic features such as classifiers, role-shift, non-manual features, and detailed BSL grammar.

    Assessments

    There are 3 assessments as part of this course:

    • Productive skills – a formal BSL presentation (8–10 minutes)
    • Conversational skills – a 10–12 minute informal conversation with your teacher
    • Receptive skills – a written exam based on a filmed BSL presentation

Length of Course and Exams

Weekly online 3 hours over 15 weeks.

Eligibility Criteria

You must be:

  • Aged 19+.
  • Live in London.
  • Not on any other government funded training.
  • Your first or preferred language is BSL, or you are a parent or carer of deaf children/and or young people.
  • Any person who is unemployed or below the London Living Wage earning less than £27,007.50 per annum.
  • 3 year residency rules apply.
