The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. This qualification is for people who work with or look after children, enabling them to have a basic knowledge of how to deal with paediatric first aid situations which can arise when looking after children. Learners will practise assessing and managing an incident and demonstrate how to treat a variety of serious conditions.
The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of Paediatric first aid situations when looking after children. This qualification should prepare Learners to develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective first aid to children and Infants.
The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid Intended qualification is aimed at people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to infants and children when dealing with:
Learners will be assessed by a tutor throughout the day and there will be a final multiple-choice exam at the end. This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid may be used towards other qualifications at the same and higher level, plus aid career progression in a relevant professions.
