The Level 2 Diploma Early Years Practitioner providers learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children, between the age of 0-7. The purpose of this diploma is to work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis supporting the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes within the ethos of the setting. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.
This qualification is ideal for learners looking to work with children. Learners must be working, volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills. This opportunity must allow for learners to apply their knowledge and skills in order to meet the assessment criteria for the qualification.
On completion, learners will be provided with the correct knowledge, skills and understanding to work in a variety of settings, including day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes, playgroups, nursery schools, home based provision, hospitals, social care settings and out of school environments.
Learners will be internally assessed using a range of methods. Knowledge based outcomes can be assessed using non–mandatory assessment tasks. Skills-based outcomes must be achieved by direct observation with the workplace.
Learners achieving the Level 2 Diploma can progress onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications or other relevant Level 3 qualifications relating to early years and childcare.
