Explore Our Courses

Level 1 – Start Your BSL Journey

Focus on everyday topics such as:

  • Meeting people, using numbers, weather, transport, directions

  • Describing people, objects, animals, interests, and activities

  • Getting around, sharing information, weather

Assessment: 5-minute recorded conversation with your BSL Trainer.

Level 2 – Build Your Skills

Expand your vocabulary and confidence with topics like:

  • Everyday life, eating & drinking, shopping, travel & holidays

Assessments:

  • Receptive skills via a 25-minute clip

  • Productive skills with a 3–5 minute presentation

  • Conversational skills through a 6–7 minute conversation with your tutor

Level 3 – Achieve Fluency

Take your skills further with complex topics such as:

  • Home life, social & recreational activities, education & employment

  • Consumer issues, daily living, deaf history, and culture

Assessments:

  • Receptive skills exam (45 minutes)

  • Productive skills presentation (8–10 minutes)

  • Conversational skills exam (12–15 minutes)

Course Details

  • Format: Weekly online sessions, 3 hours over 15 weeks

  • Location: Online via Teams – learn from anywhere in London

  • Eligibility: Aged 19+, London resident, BSL as first/preferred language, or parent/carer of deaf children. Must meet income and residency requirements.
