Eligibility Criteria

This is a guide to the eligibility criteria for our funded courses. If you are unsure whether you are eligible, please get in touch with our team and we will be happy to help.

  • Learners must be aged 19 or over.
  • Learners must live in London.
  • Learners who are unemployed may also be eligible for full funding.
  • Learners must meet the relevant UK residency requirements for the duration of the course.
  • Learners must not be on a Skilled Worker visa, Sponsorship visa or Graduate visa.

If employed, learners must meet the relevant earnings threshold for their area and course level:

  • London: £28,860 per year or less.

Learners can be unemployed to complete our short courses, however Level 2 Mental Health in Early Years and Level 2 Adverse Childhood Experiences must be done in the workplace. 

Eligibility is subject to individual circumstances and will be confirmed as part of the enrolment process.

This course is fully free for eligible adults aged 19 and over living in London or Buckinghamshire, funded through the Adult Skills Fund. Funding is generally available to people who are unemployed or on a lower income and is subject to residency and eligibility checks when you enrol.

It covers crowd management, stewarding responsibilities, customer care, communication, conflict management, emergency procedures, health and safety, safeguarding, venue regulations and relevant legislation.

The Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety is widely recognised within the spectator safety sector and is often expected by employers at sports venues and major events. It develops knowledge of stewarding responsibilities, industry standards and safe working practices while demonstrating a commitment to working professionally within spectator environments.

The qualification can support progression into roles including Spectator Safety Steward, Event Steward, Matchday Steward, Crowd Safety Steward and Event Safety Assistant, depending on your experience and employer requirements. Opportunities can be available across sports grounds, music venues, arenas, festivals, racecourses, exhibition centres and other large public events.

Most learners complete the qualification within 10 to 12 weeks through flexible blended learning, with online learning materials and dedicated tutor or assessor support. Assessment is completed through an online portfolio of evidence and knowledge based workbooks, with no formal examinations required.
