The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care is aimed at learners aged 18 and over and will support the development of staff in several job roles in the adult care sector. Learners will be supported in developing specialist knowledge and skills in their area of responsibility and enable them to promote a values-based culture within their setting.
This qualification acts as a progression route from the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care qualification to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services qualification.
Learners will be internally and externally assessed using portfolio evidence.
The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care is a nationally recognised qualification covering advanced person centred care, safeguarding, leadership, communication, risk management and quality improvement. It develops the skills experienced care professionals need to lead practice, support colleagues, take on greater responsibility and improve outcomes for people receiving care and support.
This course is fully free for eligible adults aged 19 and over who live in London, funded by the Greater London Authority through the Adult Skills Fund. Eligibility requirements apply and may include your residency, employment status, income and commitment to progressing into higher skilled or better paid employment.
The course is suitable for experienced Adult Social Care professionals including Senior Care Workers, Team Leaders, Lead Practitioners and Senior Support Workers. It is particularly relevant for people who supervise colleagues, support service delivery or want to develop the advanced skills needed to progress towards management and leadership roles.
Most learners complete the qualification within 12 to 18 months through flexible blended learning with support from a dedicated tutor or assessor. Assessment includes assignments, workplace evidence, professional discussions, reflective accounts and workplace observations, allowing learners to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills within a care setting.
The qualification can support progression towards roles including Deputy Manager, Care Manager, Service Manager and Lead Practitioner within Adult Social Care. It also provides a strong progression route towards the Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship and other management qualifications for learners looking to develop their leadership careers.
