This qualification is designed to develop an understanding of neuroscience in early years, focusing on child development from birth to seven years.
It provides learners with essential knowledge of how neuroscience influences early childhood development, supporting those seeking employment or career progression within the early years sector. Learners will benefit from distance learning alongside mandatory live workshops and masterclasses, which form an essential part of the qualification.
The course also provides a foundation for progression into further and higher education, while supporting the development of knowledge and skills relevant to the Early Years Practitioner role.

The Level 2 Award in an Introduction to Neuroscience in Early Years provides an introduction to how the brain develops from birth to age seven and how neuroscience can inform early years practice. It helps learners understand how early experiences, relationships, and environments influence children's learning, behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and long term development.
The course is suitable for early years practitioners, nursery staff, preschool workers, childminders, teaching assistants, and anyone interested in understanding child development and the science behind how young children learn and grow. It is also valuable for those considering a career in childcare or education.
The course is fully funded through the Adult Skills Fund for eligible adults aged 19 and over living in London or Buckinghamshire. London residents must generally earn no more than £14.80 per hour, with Buckinghamshire eligibility linked to National Minimum Wage thresholds. All funding is subject to residency and eligibility checks at enrolment.
The course is delivered through a flexible blended learning model, with online materials supported by a dedicated tutor throughout. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence with no formal exam required, and learners need access to a suitable device and reliable internet connection.
The qualification supports progression into roles including Nursery Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, Childcare Assistant, Preschool Assistant, and Teaching Assistant. It also provides a strong foundation for further training and career progression within early years education and childcare.
