Working in care settings such as residential homes, supported living or people’s own homes, you’ll develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to deliver compassionate, person centred care that protects each individual’s dignity, independence and choices, as you learn on the job.
You learn on the job, combining structured training with practical experience in your care role, so you apply what you learn straight away in real situations. Our experienced tutors support you throughout, and additional learning support and reasonable adjustments are available if you need them. At the end, an independent end point assessment checks you can work safely, compassionately and competently, including safeguarding, communication and person centred care. Careers:
The Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship is a nationally recognised work based programme for individuals starting or developing a career in adult social care. Apprentices provide person centred care and support to help people maintain their independence, dignity, health, and wellbeing while earning a salary and gaining a recognised qualification.
The main requirement is that you are employed in a suitable adult social care role where you can demonstrate the skills required by the apprenticeship standard. Functional Skills support in maths and English can be provided where needed, and reasonable IT skills are expected for online learning.
The apprenticeship typically takes 12 to 15 months to complete, depending on experience and progress. Apprentices remain employed throughout, receive support from a dedicated tutor, and complete off the job training during paid working hours.
The apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a career in adult social care and an excellent progression route to the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship. Many employers retain successful apprentices as permanent qualified members of staff following completion.
