March Learner of the Month!

Congratulations to Sameerah Siddiqui for being recognised as our Learner of the Month for March.   We spoke with Sameerah and her PTS tutor Tammy, to learn about her experience and understand why she is deserves this recognition.

Our Learner

Sameerah has recently completed a Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship at Puddleducks Nurseries and is now a fully certified Early Years Educator.    This is a recent change in career direction for her – although she comes from a long line of teachers in her family.   At the start of her working life she set about carving her own career path in a more corporate environment and was very successful however,  following a diagnosis regarding her daughters health she found herself rethinking her career.   The result of this was her decision to become nursery practitioner.

She joined Puddleducks Nurseries and when they partnered with Professional Training Solutiions she was able to start her Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship.   This is a great example of how a career change can be supported by an apprenticeship and how all working skills can help an individual to successfully make that shift.    Due to commitments at home Sameerah found the flexibility of the training really advantageous and the support of her tutor invaluable.

“My tutor was wonderful at understanding that because of my transferable skills from my corporate job, I was able to handle a greater workload. This meant when I asked for more or less work she understood and I could work at my own pace.”

Results and impact

Here’s what Tammy, Sameerah’s tutor had to say:

“Sameerah has always been an incredibly hard working learner and has a real infectious enthusiasm and passion for working in the early years, which has really come out throughout her apprenticeship during our discussions and her assignments.   She has had her own battle to face throughout, suffering with Covid and then having a broken bone at one point but her ability to stay positive and engaged has seen her through.   She always asked for more work as soon as she had completed assignments before our next session which meant that she progressed through her studies very quickly and was able to complete 3 months early.   It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of her journey!”

Sammerah’s summary:

“It was a wonderful experience where I was always fully supported.   I always had access to my tutor to ask any question or any guidelines on how I should approach certain questions. It has between a wonderful experience between my setting, tutor and myself to finally reach a stage where I have a certification for all the hard work. I wish you luck if this is your career choice as well.”
